Default Contemplating VSH Queen for a split

In a few weeks I may need to do a split....provided survival....

I've been thinking of trying a VSH queen to starry getting the genetics in to my hives.

I heard that route may sacrifice honey production, but I'm just a hobbyist.

Any feedback on where I might look for a good source? Are they even available to some purchasing one or two at a time?

I have Carniolans and would like to keep them.

Johnny Thompson has dark VSH as well as the gold. He has nice queens, too, and ships 1-2 at a time. He's a member here: Broke-T.
