    Thumbs Up Extracting method ...

Went to help a friend extract some honey. He uses a hot knife. He had an uncapping tank with the pointed cross post. As I was watching him, he was placing the sidebar of the frame on the "post." However, he was using the middle of the sidebar as the pivoting point. Well as he spun the frame to uncap the other side, the "ear" would catch and sometimes the frame would slip off the post into the tank.

I recommended that he use very close to the bottom of the sidebar as the holding / pivoting point and what do you know? No more "ear catching" or frame falling.......

    Just a thought.........

The longer pivot point will work better. I have used hot knife and serrated knife. The cold knife works much better. Gives a cleaner cut. The trick is to use a sawing motion, work toward the top bar of the frame and if there are a lot of frames, have 2 knives and a pot of hot water, so one knife can be de-waxing itself while the other is in use.

Has anyone ever used a heat gun? I extracted using a heat gun it worked perfect melting the caps in seconds. Just waive the heat gun across the frame.
