Does everyone have supers on except for me. I have a friend that I sold a couple of hives to and he put nucs in his and I put in packages. He put on his first supers on last week and my top hive body doesn't even have honey in it yet. I've seen the queens and they are both laying tons of brood and there seems to be a lot of bees, why are they not filling their upper deeps?
That sounds about right for the age of bees and the difference between nucs and packages. Takes packages a couple of weeks longer to draw comb then lay.
I started 2 hives from packages this spring - mid-April time period. On one, I JUST saw my first full frame of capped honey over the weekend. Mind you it was inside the brood nest on the 3rd box, but capped honey just the same. No honey supers on yet.
The other hive is on its 2nd hive body and is building bees like mad - but no frames of capped honey.
Both were started from scratch on 8 frame mediums with no foundation, just wood-ware.
Zbee we should get together one of these days. i'm going back to school at CCRI in lincoln and could bring my jacket with me depending on when you get home. I have 8 frame foundationless too. Mine started from a swarm 5/26 so about a month behind yours.
