Default Started my Hopkins Method of Queen Rearing today. Day 1

I made a holder for the frame of eggs, extended the bee space below to 1 1/4 inches.
I had a plastic foundation frame with drawn comb on it, I scarped one side clean so to encourage the queen to use the side I want the QC on.
Today day 1 I put that frame (medium) into the brood chamber of my best hive. I will check it in three days.
Then I will put it in my nuc that was setup today so it is queenless.

I will post pictures latter and keep an update on the process.

I'm looking forward to seeing your results. I am going to try the cell punch method next week, if I can get some woodwork done. I just don't see the need in grafting for my small scale needs with other viable options out there.

That's my point in doing the Hopkins method, it really is an experement for me to try it.
In our area I know no one who rasies queens for emergencies or to sell.
I have nucs setup to raise one or two queens, but I want to try to build up some more hives this year. I will post pictures of the frame holder tomorrow. I am not that picky about wood working for this so it is very rough.

Why did use a frame with plastic foundation?
