Default What happened to this little guy?

I was inspecting my hives real quick this morning and in my strongest hive I came across this little guy walking around the tops of the frames.

Is this possibly normal? If not, what is possibly going on? I hived this tree rescue on March 23rd with no salvaged comb. "Next door" are two swarms that I caught and they all appear to be healthy and good.

    Any ideas?

I'll admit I haven't done any sort of real check.

But I have never seen a mite on a bee.

I do have a SBB... Just need to slip in the oil board I guess.

Well, F*CK... let me take that back.

I apparently shouldn't trust my "glances with the naked eye".

I have a mite on this very bee... it's actually quite obvious once I saw it... but yet I have been handling this bee all morning and hadn't noticed.

    I'm a terrible bee keeper.

Guess it's time to start some sort of controls... I'm trying to run treatment free... we shall see!

DWV= deformed wing virus. Vectored by varroa mites.

Is "K" wing the same thing as DWV?

No, it isn't. K wing is caused by tracheal mites.

No, K wing is when the fore wing and the hind wing come unhinged. K wing is normally associated with Tracheal mites or nosema.
