Have any of ever used any of the products that are intended to get the bees out of the supers for extracting? Does it work? What brand have you tried that works best? I am wanting to see if will work on trap outs. My thinking is to drill a 3/4" hole below the main entrance of a bee tree and blow some of this stuff into the tree hoping it will drive the bees out and into a hive that I will have at the entrance. I have never tried any of the products and I hate to spend the money if they are useless.
My recommendation is the same as imthedude's...Fischer's Bee Quick. It has a pleasant aroma and it works. Have you got a fume board or planning on improvising? Seriously, some of the other bee repellant stuff smells indescribably BAD!!!!
last summer a retired beek gave me some honey robber and fume boards with honey robber smell on them. it took a couple of days for the smell to get out of my wife's car. i threw the honey robber away, and the fume boards still smell horrible after sitting outside all winter to "de-fume."
You have to have heat to vaporize the acid or fume. bu squirting in the hole, you'd just have a stinky tree.
try using the fume board late in the day with little to no sun.
the bees dont leave.
