    Default Hi from Eugene

Hi everyone, we are new beekeepers in Eugene, Oregon. We have one hive and a big garden, as well as a neighborhood filled with flowers of all varieties. We are very excited to have our bees and are lucky to have a wonderful beekeeper mentor who has helped us so much.
We started with a nuc hive, which turned out to be very robust, so we transferred them into a deep just a few days after we got them. We are getting ready to check the deep this week and see if they have filled the five empty frames, in which case we'll add another one.
We have thought about doing this for a few years, and thanks to our mentor's encouragement and help, took the plunge this spring.
I look forward to browsing the forums and learning from all the participants. Thank you!

Hi Neighbor! Just started on the forum ourselves. We're right behind the Churchill Football field / Baseball diamond. A full city block of Blackberry bushes along the creek and the entire practice field full of wonderful white clover.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! BikerBee, you sound like you have a wonderful location. We're up on College Hill. Tons of flowers up here!
We had a swarm in our yard a few days ago and didn't manage to catch it. We think our hive split. Getting ready to do an inspection when the weather improves. There are still lots of bees but it seems like not as many ....

Just a bit north of you here and east of Portland. Keep in mind that a lot of this bee keeping is regional and many will talk of bitter cold and snow. A little different from us with the major flow / and rain ending with blackberries. Welcome!

I am new here too and new to beekeeping, caught a swarm at work June 2nd on Willow Creek and 18th near the old Hynix facility. Good to see some fellow Eugenians here. I have a Top Bar hive so will be doing things a bit differently but I am glad to see the interest around town.
