    Smile My first hive

I've always wanted to keep bees so this year I built a hive and started. So far all is well!

Next time you should remove the queen cage before dumping it and the bees into your awaiting hive. You don't want to risk injuring the egg layer! Have fun!

Nice looking hive. ( kinda looks like mine ) I installed my bees 04/08/14. The bees seem to be doing fine.

I cut a slot in the follower board to match the feeder. Also I bent the #8 screen up to touch the jar lid. The feeder is placed on the opposite side of the follower board from the bees.
The bees found the feeder right away.

I put the outside feeder about 200' away from the hive. The bees are really going after it.

Wow -- that's a pretty hive! We made ours, and the top bars are not nearly so neat.
