Will soapy water kill SHB

Hi All,
I recently took over the care of two colonies in CT. Unfortunately both are overrun with SHB. Traps have had zero effect. The colonies are now both very weak and are unfortunately doomed. After talking with a number of beekeeping friends, I have come to the conclusion that I have to clean everything out and start over. Because a friend has other colonies near by shaking them out is not an option. I am wondering if any one has any specific experience with soapy water. Will it in fact kill SHB? I must kill these beetles.
Thanks in advance,
Bruce

Oil will kill them. Soap may kill the beetles but it doesn't seem to affect the larvae. They kept crawling out of a tray I had pulled. There was no oil or water. I added water and soap. They patiently crawled out. Good lesson for me to watch!
