    Default Bars

    Are hardwood bars necessary.
I made up some out of spruce today.
1 1/4 wide 19 long 1.5 deep with a 3/4 deep V cut on the bottom tabs are 3/4 that rest on the side.
    They seem plenty strong.
    My first TBH.
Started with 2nucs then 3 swarms 2 cut outs it's been a busy first year I'm near Red Deer.

Your spruce bars will be fine.

Spruce, pine, fir, MDF, insides of hot water heaters, etc, the bees don't seem to care too much. If I could make them from balsa I would, anything to lighten up my swarm traps!
