Default First Ever Swarm Trap Success

I am a second year beekeeper. My partner and I decided to try to catch some swarms this year. During the winter, we built a dozen swarm traps and set seven of them out recently. On my way back to work from lunch, I was able to check three of the traps. Two had bees in them.

    That's a great start.

Congrats! I've caught 4 so far this spring and bees are checking out a fifth. Last year, I got zippo, ziltch, nadda. I wonder what the difference is...not that I'm not looking a gift bee in the mouth. So much fun!!!

Why does the "manage attachments" function turn my photos 90 degrees?

photo.jpg This is a pic of my first swarm trap, I think the pic is not rotated right, but I built the perch for the trap and backed my pickup right up to the tree and stood on the tailgate, strapped it to the tree, and it put it about ten feet off the ground. Now just waiting for results!

CessnaGirl-are your traps in the same locations this year? Are they near water this year?
