    Default Hello Beesource!

    Hello Beesource Community!

I have been a longtime reader and I am happy to finally take the plunge and get my account to this forum. Let me introduce myself

    Name: Scott Jorgensen
Location: Contra Costa County (Bay Area) California, Plant hardiness zone 9b
    Beekeeping Experience: 4 years
Currently have 16 colonies. 10 Top bars and 6 Langstroth.
www.herculesbees.biz is my newly started business of making and selling top bar beehives.

My bees typically forage on open space and suburban towns. Bee yards are often on the edges of towns.

I am interested in scaling up my KTB operation to about 40-50 hives. I am interested, very interested in honeybees. I always enjoy meeting other beekeepers near myself. Give a shout out if you live near me!

    Best Regards,
    Scott Jorgensen

    welcome to beesource.
I agree suburban is great, my bees have a direct route to the dumpsters of the fast food grouping near by
it's fun to watch the flight route they take there.
I often wonder if there really is a maximum number of hives that you can really have in a suburban area,
the more hood you can get, the better your fast food concentrations groupings
    what do you think?
    all the best

    Hi reidflys,

Suburban is pretty good, especially in CA, but there is a maximum carrying capacity of hives in the environment, just like anything else. I guess I won't know what that number is until I find out.
