    Default Rhett: new to forum

    Hello!

I'm Rhett Kelley and this is my first post here. I'm a full time whip maker and side-line beekeeper in Georgia. We have 45 colonies and call our operation the Kelley Honeybee Farm. Next month will be 3 years since we got our first packages of bees. I honestly am not much of a "forum guy," but I have pulled up several threads from this group in Google searches, so I figured maybe I should join.

I currently serve a Vice President of the Ogeechee Area Beekeepers Association based in Statesboro, GA. We began organizing about a year ago.

Well, that's about it for my intro.

    Thanks,
    Rhett

I saw a wonderful performance where this dude was using a 10ft whip covered in fire, and it
would snap flames when he snapped it, it was at burning man.
I have wanted a great whip ever since.
    welcome to beesource

    FYI and FWIW:

Some of the web searches that brought me here most recently was in my research about the legality skep beekeeping. Though I have no skeps and probably never will, I recently discovered that the commonly held belief that "skeps are illegal in the US" is somewhat of an urban legend. In fact, they are not illegal here in GA, or in S.C. I wrote an article about it on my blog here: http://kelleyhoneybees.com/2014/02/2...ps-in-georgia/
