    Default Small Cell Bees

If I use 5.4mm foundation as a guide for my foundationless frames will the bees: a)draw it out ok, b) ignore it, or c) heads explode because of the perplexing difference in cell size? I ask this because small cell comb seems next to impossible to find where I am (Nashville).

Your bees will adapt to the starter strip just fine. Bees make a variety of different cell sizes when given the opportunity.

While you may have difficulty finding small cell foundation from local Nashville suppliers, it certainly is available from folks like Mann Lake and Brushy Mountain.

We stock small cell foundation at Montgomery Farmers Coop in Clarksville TN. Depending on where you're at in Nashville, you're probably 30 mins to an hour away.

I would use a wood strip and forget the foundation altogether. It will be more permanant and won't mislead the bees.

We're up I-24 from Nashville, a few miles off the interstate at Exit 4.
