Let the Poppy frenzy begin....started blooming on June 7th.

My girls always attack the poppies, like no other flowers in my yard, not sure what they have to offer that makes them so attractive. Maybe I hive a bunch of junkies.

First blooms about 6/9, in full bloom now. Not normally known as honeybee forage, but our bees are working it eagerly.

84097, 6/14/14, Lindon Trees. The bloom just started and the bees are responding emphatically. The buds were visible a few weeks ago and the first ones opened in a park 1/4 mile from our house/hives and the rest of them opened up within a few hours. There are dozens of these trees near us and within a 3 mile radius there are probably 200-300 of the trees. The blossoms are so heavy with nectar that the limbs are drooping visibly. Each tree looks like it has a swarm in it there are so many bees.

    Basswood. 20176, 6/17/14

I have lived in this house for seven years and this is the first time this tree has ever bloomed - I didn't even know what it was and never paid it any attention. When I walked out this morning it was absolutely covered from top to bottom with honey bees and bumble bees. I looked it up and discovered it is a Basswood, also known as a "Bee-Tree". Perhaps it was our extended cold winter that kicked it into gear.

Any chance we could all make an effort to post photos of all these flowers / trees, to use this thread as a flower / tree identification learning tool as well as a date / location log? That would make this would be a favorite post of a lot of beek's..

    Yellow sweet blossom clover, 6/14-21

The state plants it to stabilize soil after new roadwork... a 2-3' bushy plant covered with yellow (& sometimes white) 2-4" flower stalks- commonly referred to as "clover". The local stuff is just kicking in, while further north (& lower elevation) it is booming.

Just saw the shorter goldenrod in bloom this past Saturday. Wife saw it too so either I am not crazy or we both are.
