Methinks a banned person has shown up under a new name.

    Yet, it just occurred.
Having an annonymous handle is very different than maintaining anonymity.
I know for myself (and many other BS members) that I have a lot of writing, talks, discussion..even a book that is 'on the record'. All of this is open to scrutiny and is related to what I post here. If I were to start advocating using Cipro in beehives, that suggestion would fly in the face of almost everything else I have ever said, written, posted about how I believe bees should be kept.

What if I posted that under the name, "WLD"? All the context goes away, and now I am just a beekeeper advocating using Cirpo in the hive, not a treatment free beekeeper and seller of treatment free honey who is looking to widen the divide between what I sell and what others are selling.

You claim to have great expertise in some areas...and my recollection is that you didn't want to give a presentation on RNAi technology because you wanted to be able to do reseearch in that area in the future, and didn't want to 'disqualify' yourself by having taken a position. Of course you have taken a position and stated it...it just isn't associated with your professional persona.

What you get paid to do is kind of important...not in all cases, but imagine if your anonnmys handle was to hide the fact that you are Jerry Hayes? We don't know that you aren't. We don't know what research you are paid to do. We don't know about the fataly flawed studies you have published (I don't know that there are any, but there could be a stack a mile high). The good studies you have done might just bolster your credibility...if we knew what they were.

There is nothing personal about stating that, "Civil debate is difficult if one insists on maintaining anonymity. "

There is nothing civil about taking pot shots at others while keeping one's own identity (and work, and writings, and credibility) a secret. If you don't like it, you have the power to do more about it than to complain.

No, unlike the banned person, I know when to shut-up. Message received loud and clear. And not a peep from the moderators. No guidance and no response to my simple question. What are the rules?

I agree with that one. I frankly think everyone should know who is making the comments. I have been criticized here, (and justly so), but, I don't take it personally, just a difference of opinion. All beekeeping is local.

I believe that knowing who made the comment, and the ability to google search that individual, and see what comes up is extremely relevant. As individuals we cannot control what is on the internet. I don't care if everyone in the WORLD google searches my name. I certainly can't stop them.

I often just drop out of a discussion if I see it going the wrong way. I would like to believe that people are posting in an effort to help the individual that started the thread with their question.

And just for the record.... I believe the moderators do a GREAT job of keeping the threads on subject, and off personal attacks.

Just my two cents worth. I agree with you deknow. Thanks for posting that.
