    Default Ants

I just read an article that claims that a mixture of 1/2 baking soda and 1/2 POWDERED sugar mixed together will kill ants and the entire colony as they will take it back for all to enjoy. It also said that you can use a small container with 2 tablespoons of each and 3 tablespoons of water. I will try this economical solution next spring. The problems that I had in the past was eliminated by using Avery Ant spikes, but they are no longer available that I can find. It is possible that the bees might also want to use the mixture, and it would not be good for them either, so I will watch closely the first couple of days.
So much to learn, so little time!!

Borax (find it in the detergent aisle) mixed with sugar and enough water to make a paste is an affordable alternative to commercial ant control products. You will need to make sure bees can't get to it.
