Re: Warre - Top Entrance
For the past five years I ran non-warre top entrance hives. They are great. I decided to run my hives Warre style this year. In researching Warre's method I too considered a top entrance variation on it. But after understanding the Warre system and why his setup was designed with a bottom entrance I concluded a top entrance would detract from the benefit the quilt offers. So this year I'm running all bottom entrances.
Top entrances have a lot of practical advantages. But I can also see benefits to a bottom entrance from the colony's perspective.
