    Smile Dismantle Electric fence

    Hi All,
I'm located in Connecticut and wondering when most people dismantle their electric fence for the season? Thanks Jeff

I'm not in Connecticut, but I believe that most people leave their electric fences in place all year.

I live in north west jersey. I am going to leave mine on all year. Bears don't fully hybernate in this area. I have never seen one mid winter, but read they may come out here and there and I have seen prints in the snow while hunting. Play it safe and leave it installed.

I don't understand why an electric fence would be taken down in the winter. If snow reaches the bottom of the fence, the system should go to sleep until the thaw. You may want to consider disconnecting the bottom rung of the fence though to keep the fence active.
