Default Hive in a green house?

Hi, I was wondering it if it might be a good idea to put a small greenhouse over the hive I have...only reason I am even thinking about it is I live in southern ontario, it doesnt get as cold as some other places in canada but still an average of -15 during the day in dec/jan/feb.

Anyone ever try this? I have heard of doing it to extend winter crops like cabbage and kale. But they do a double cold frame which is basically a greenhouse in a green house and it can raise the temperature almost 10 degrees.

    Mike,

You have to be careful not to raise the temperature too high. If you get the hive warm enough they will want to fly. Honeybees don't do well in greenhouses.

    Windows may cause problems.

Hot beds can get quite a bit hotter than 10F above ambient.
