Default caps chewed off queen cells

What does it mean when you have the ends of the queen cells slightly chewed open. You can see the cocoon inside.

Did a cell hatch and I have a virgin killing the others?

If one did hatch, then I should see eggs in about 2 to 3 weeks correct.

That's what the nurse bees do, a day or two before the queens emerge. Perhaps it gives them a little more oxygen, and/or makes it easier for them to chew their way out.
