Default New Member and total noob at beekeeping

so im so new to the idea of beekeeping that I have as yet to get any bee hives going. im in Idaho. I have been thinking of getting into beekeeping since I called my local commercial beek to come and get a swarm that we had in our pasture. took him all of 10 minutes to get the bees boxed. anyway from that experience I have seriously warmed to the idea of keeping my own bees. he even gave me a nice pint of his honey for the call out. I have to say I have had his honey before and it really is better than the other stuff at the local stores. having said this I have decided that its high time I took the thought and put it in to action so am planning on setting up some hives over the winter and get some bees to populate those hive in the spring. I am looking foreward to getting to know everyone here. till my next post have a great one everyone!

Welcome to the Forum, this winter will be a good time to build your hives and read as much as possible on Beekeeping.

Welcome and enjoy, Your timing is great. it will give you time to read up and that way when you do get bees you will feel like you know just what you are doing for about a week. after that you really have to work to keep up.

Welcome to the Forum and Beekeeping, yes I would use winter to build your gear and do lots of reading.

Also try and attend some Bee Club meetings in your area and get to know the local beekeepers, this will help in finding good bees coming Spring time.

    Good luck...Gary

Welcome to the world of beekeeping. I have been doing it for a year and half. I have not regreted it. Study over the winter so you will have a little bit of of information on what to do in he spring. Meet local beekeepers and join your local beekeeping club. They are very helpful. Best wishes to your new adventure.
