Default Can you identify this pest ?

    worm.jpg

    hello all
while cleaning out my oil trays this morning I found several worms in the oil and still very much alive
they were only in one of my 4 hives.
I checked the frames etc, did not see anything resembling them on frames although after the 4 th sting my inspection got a
    lot quicker

    thanks for help

btw a lunch room tray with oil close enough to sbb to keep bees out does a great job and a heck of alot cheaper than
commercial products cost of trays less that 3 bucks each and a little effort to adjust to fit sbb
Insect farming is soooo interesting :)

Strong hives deal with them pretty well. Keep your bees a little more crowded is one way to deal with them. Another is to use a bottom screen hive beetle trap; it gets the moth larvae as well. Green beehives sells one version, the Freeman is another. I've not used the Freeman so I can't vouch for it, but the Green beehives one works pretty well.
