Default When is the best time to treat for mites?

Both of my hives have good numbers but there is a significant mite count. I can wait till the correct time. The question is when is the right time in North Carolina?

Studies done have shown that for your area the month of August is an ideal time to treat. It gives the colony ample time to raise bees for overwintering that have not been damaged by varroa.

Thanks, and I believe cool weather is best? Tomorrow is 72 so it should be perfect...right?

The temperature range depends on what you use to treat with, but I think mid 70's would be good to go for any of the treatments. What do you plan to use?
