    Default cleats for shb trap

    We just received a beetle trap that we ordered from Dadant. Apparently, we ordered the model with cleats, but I can't seem to figure out what they're for.

    Assuming you have this SHB trap:

    the cleats are used to raise the rest of the hive bodies up so there is room for the oil tray below the frames and above the bottom board. (see the location of the cleats in the illustration above.) The traps are also sold without the cleats if your hive already has adequate space for the tray without using the cleats.
