I go to Lowe's and buy some 1X3s and some #8 hardware cloth and make my own. A bottom board is very simple to make.

I'm exclusively using the IPM screened bottom board shown in the build it yourself section here:

They build up easy, and do the job. The "wood" I use is Trax HDPE lumber, painted to match my various hive colors. Trax is deck material available at any of the big-box home improvement stores. Of course, you could use standard wood for construction.

Do you have Amish in your area, I found a gentleman who makes great woodware.

Great idea, I'm sure you can find one yourself, or talk to one of them and they most likely know of a friend who wants to make a few extra bucks. But really, they are not difficult to make even if you have no carpentry skills, just duplicate one that you already have. John

I have 6 hives and all are Country Rubes, love them. No painting.

Does everybody use both sides of their reversible bottom boards? I made two out of cedar for my first two hives this spring. I only made a 3/4 inch side. They were very easy to make, but maybe I need the 3/8 side?

Kenww... I rarely use the 3/8 side, but, I still make all mine reversable. Rather than use the 3/8 side, I just use an entrance reducer.

Thanks. I guess I won't worry about it then.
