Default honey locust trees worth to plant?

I can get some, are they worth to plant as a nectar source?

When is the best time to plant a tree? 20 years ago! If you've the time to wait honey locust can be a great nectar source.

According to John Lovell in his book Honey Plants of North America:
The bloom of the honey locust has the odor of honey and secretes nectar freely, but it does not as a rule yield a surplus, and is of far less value than black locust.

I wouldn't plant honey locust for any reason. Like the above post mentioned black locust is good along with sourwood, linden and koren bee bee if you wanted to plant trees for bees.

In a local beekeeping meeting, we were told that honey locust produces a nasty tasting honey.

I have a honey locust on my property and the bees won't go near it when it is in bloom. Even the bumble bees don't touch it.

Pick a honey locust twig and chew on it - it's sweet like honey.

Black Locust grow like weeds, fix nitrogen in the soil, and produce a premium honey crop every five or so years, depending on location and weather.

Beautiful shade tree for the yard. Let's dappled light through.

Bees absolutely love ours, but their bloom only lasts about a week. Don't know about the quality of the honey, too many other things blooming about the same time.
