Sad SHB or Wax moth Larvae?

This evening I saw a larvae crawl out of one of my hives. Im new, they look similar so I was wondering if someone could help me Identify it and give me a treatment plan. It was about 3/4 to 1"' long, about the size of a round toothpick, and clearly red/amber on both head and tail. I pulled a couple frames and did not see anything unusual. If I knew how to post a picture I would. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. G

Google wax moth larvae and click on images. See if that is what you are seeing. It does sound like them. Personally I spray my comb with BtA. It is available from BC member Sundance and is listed with prices down on the For Sale forum.

For SHB, I use oil bottom traps. They have been very effective for me.

Rusty, I did what you suggested, and i did see one photo that was identical. I have made contact with Sundance, do you brush the bees off and spray the comb or spray with bees on? Thanks G

I brush them off. Mostly I use the BtA when the comb is empty and being stored, but it is safe to use BtA while the comb is in use, too. New hives sometimes just aren't strong enough yet to handle wax moths and if they get a bit of help, will go on to do fine.
