Default Cycling Clothes are not Bee Proof.

Each morning, I ride my bike before getting ready for work. This morning, I checked on the bees after riding and saw that the jar in the Boardman entrance feeder was empty. I grabbed a jug of sugar water and did what I usually do. I removed the jar, refilled it, and replaced it. When I looked down, I noticed that I hadn't screwed the lid on properly. Therefore, I removed it to fix the problem. BIG mistake! In the short time since I had replaced it, the bees had FILLED the space below the jar lid. Also, they really didn't like my taking their food. I was stung 10 times before all was said and done.

    I won't do that again.

It's humbling, isn't it? Once I decided to put a feeder inside an empty super. Since I was only going to take the outer cover off and add the super, I decided I didn't need to put on my veil or gloves or use any smoke. Not sure where my brains were that day! I was snapped back into reality when one of the girls landed on my nose and stung me. OUCH!

And I may add that a vail is your best friend, until a bee finds a hole. Then it is your worst enemy.

Bees don't like sweaty visitors, either! Good luck with your stings.

Aint that the truth! I got stun through a leather work glove the other day. I saw the bee land on my hand and drive the stinger into the glove. I thought to my self..."It's a leather glove, I've got nothing to worry about." So I went about my business and a few seconds later, it started to throb.

Like John Wayne said, "Life is tough. And it's real tough if you're stupid."
