Default where to place OH - outside

    Hi,
I have built an observation hive, maybe 90% complete at this point. I will likely not put in into place until next spring, but I plan on keeping this hive running year round. I built it using 2 discarded casement windows that are 6 foot tall - so there is a lot of glass. The glass is insulated - double pane. The hive is 4 frames thick. I will keep the glass covered so it is dark. My question is, where should I place it. Should I place it somewhere in the shade where it never has direct sunlight, somewhere with partial sun and if so - morning or evening sun, or maybe there are other considerations that I have not considered. I have never had an observation hive so any advice at all is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am sorry that I can't give you a good answer on this subject, but I am looking at building one myself. Could you post some pictures? Welcome BTW

Direct sun on an outside, glass faced ObH will turn your hive into a wax melter.
No direct sun for any length of time.

    Honey Hive Farms,

Sun, full sun and out of damp areas.

Adrian, I suspect that Honey Hive Farms misunderstood and didn't realize you were asking about an observation hive ...

The answer to both questions is just personal preference.
This is just for fun. I hope to have kind of a combination between a observation hive and a working hive. I plan on keeping it up year round. It's a bit over 6 foot tall and 4 frames thick.
The idea isn't so much to see the queen as it is to see the bees.
