I caught my15th swarm last night. The weird thing this year is that they have all been 3 feet and under from the ground. Last year everything was 15-20 feet in the air. Also we are about 3 weeks ahead of last year. Last year I caught 16 swarms. At 15 now and still a month to go. Suppose to warm up to the mid 80's next week. Guess I will build more boxes today.
Congrats. I had that kind of luck last year. I'm not trying to catch swarms this year. I am up to my limit on hives. Also, there dosnt seem to be as many swarms around here as last year. Swarm catching is addicting!
Last year all my swarms were 6' or less off the ground, this year they are all 10' or more until the last few days when I've got a few that were lower.
Seems with all the lost packages and late spring and delayed bees, there would be a good market for bees. It sounds to me like swarms could be easily turned into dollars.
