Default Can I use frames from a failed nuc to expand a thriving hive

The nuc I have been expecting to fail has finally died off. There is a small handful of bees, a bit of stores, a decent dose of roaming larvae (hive beetle or wax moth) and some hive beetles running around. I am ready to expand one of my other recently hived nucs to a second deep. Am I just asking for trouble moving the drawn frames from the failed nuc to the other hive without freezing them first?

Yes, you are. I would freeze for 48 hours, then allow to thaw in sunlight in an open box to dry prior to installing.

Thanks for the replies. I'll pull them in the morning and place in the freezer for a couple of days.
