Default Damp, Muggy Weather = Angry Bees?

I've noticed that when it's damp and muggy out, my bees get a little cranky. Is this common?? Yesterday, I noticed that they were more buzzy than usual and still went into hive. No smoker, no gloves or veil, and a black t-shirt. It was a recipe for disaster. I should've left them alone. I'm quite itchy today.

Yes bees are sensitive to weather and changes. Lousy weather without foraging opportunity equals bored bees looking for trouble in my experience. Same goes for periods of dearth - especially when it is hot too!

Yes, that's been my experience, unless the day will be calm in the following 4 hours. If a storm or other weather is brewing, is likely to rain, or especially windy, they definitely have more attitude. They feel the barometric pressure. I think they predict the weather in the next 4 hours. I know a beekeeper who went in for a quick peek with no veil on a sunny day, got lit up and chased out of the bee yard, and 4 hours later it was storming.

It must be a girl thing. My wife and bees get cranky when the weather goes bad. Also I have found that my bees seem to get more agressive when I wear darker clothes, especially black.

The only time one of my hives got really agitated was when I opened it on a cloudy, hot, humid day. I need to go up to the hives today, but won't do it, because the weather is cloudy, hot and humid at the moment. Fifty-percent chance of rain.
