Last night, I hived two packages and used a gallon Baggie on top of the frames to feed them. After being gone all day today, I walked down just at dusk to admire the girls for a bit. As I was about to turn away, I noticed the back of one hive stand was stained and damp, as was the paved area under the hive. All I can think is that perhaps the Baggie collapsed and sugar water poured down on the bees and through the hive. Didn't open the hive to check because it was getting dark fast. Activity seemed okay with girls entering the hive, and my mom in law said there ad been bees all over the garden today. What's the worst that could have happened? Will they be okay until tomorrow afternoon or can the bees starve in a short amount of time?
