    Default Is this foul brood?

Please take a look and tell me what you think. Any advice, preferably detailed advice would be greatly appreciated. Trying to help a friend with a very neglected hive.

The photo is not that great, but I would say not. I think, and again, the quality of the photo is not that great, but you might have a nasty case of chalk developing in there. Did you by any chance run a toothpick through it?

I haven't seen the hive in person, and no toothpick test, just got these photos via email. I don't know much about beekeeping, but I was thinking chalk myself. Here's a link to some higher res images. Any ideas on how to address the situation would be appreciated.

It dosent appear to be any type of brood, foul or otherwise. It's something stored in the comb.

That is very moldy pollen. Take your hive tool and scrape off the top and you'll see colored pollen below.

    Not to worry.
