It was shot using my Canon 7D and various Canon lenses. 85mm f1.8, 24-70mm f2.8 L, 70-200mm f4 L are usually the lenses I use for my macro work along with some extention tubes.
Macro photography is one thing, but shooting video in macro mode is a lot harder. I'm hoping to get better at it using my bees as the subject matter. I actually shot some today when I had the hive open.
Nice work, Chas...makes me want to pack up my cameras and go home after watching those incredible videos. One question, the music really adds a dimension to the whole thing. Did you have to get permission to use the music? How do you go about doing that?
Solarbeez, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Busy with my bees, life, work and all sorts of other things. Real busy!
Thank you for watching it. The music, errrrr, well... that's a subject matter that always comes up. The artist is Joe Sample and I believe the song is called, "Summertime." And no, I did not have permission to use it. I understand all the implications that go along with this sort of thing. And I won't make any excuses for using it either other than the song fit perfectly and I really like it.
Now there are ways to go about using music in your videos that is "legal." Some you have to pay for and some is free. Are any of them as good? Well that's a debatable. Do a Google search for Royalty Free Music and you should find all sorts of stuff.
