    Default Queenright queen bank question

    Hello all,
If I am banking queens in a queenright bank, should the banked queens be above an excluder? Please input; thanks!

Yes and make sure it has no shortage of bees and feed. I would recommend not keeping the queens towards the outside edges of your holders if cold nights are predicted.

Western, you are asking about mated queens in cages? I wanted to know too, can I store mated caged queens in a queenright hive, one with excluder between caged queens and hive's queen.

    Jim:
Thanks; I now have the original queen below the excluder, and the caged queens above the excluder. There are 6 frames of honey below, and a gallon of 1:1 above in a bucket feeder.

    Bevy:
Yes, we are talking mated queens.

Thanks, Buzz, for the link; I found it helpful.

Benjamin - You could also add some pollen substitute - I'm assuming Mama has some brood...right?
