    Default Hello from Aurora, CO

I'm about two weeks into my new adventure of bee keeping. My backyard is a bee super store of flowers and nectar producing plants. I have a lot of the wild bees in my area coming to my backyard already, and they seem to love it, so I'm sure my new colony will fit right in.

I hope to learn a lot of great insider info from this forum as I have from other enthusiast forums in the past.

    Thanks for having me!

Always nice to see a new bee keeper from our great state, Colorado.

Yeah, I've seen several Colorado folks here. That's great! A quick Colorado specific question, do you keep your bee hives in full sun, shade or a mix?

Mine are mostly in the sun throughout the year. We average 300 days of sunshine a year and have a period in the summer of 100 F degree days.

Yeah, same here in the Front Range area. It can get pretty hot in the summer months down here. I'm in the proccess of moving my hive a few feet back and under the afternoon shade of a yet to leaf out or bloom Honeycrisp apple tree. I figure that was an appropriate spot...
