Default using old equipment with termites in the boxes

I am trying to reuse some old boxes. There are termites in some of them. Looking for methods of killing the termites without leaving some kind of residue that might be harmful to the bees. I have thought of freezing, but don't have a large enough freezer for boxes. I know some are using orange oil to kill termites in house, would the bees object to the orange oil? Any other ideas?

The termites nest in soil, using tubes to get to their foragage. Once removed from the nest area they'll die, take a ice pick or scratch awl and start poking the wood and you'll find where they've removed material.

Also termites have to return to soil every 24 hrs to rehydrate. If they cannot get to the soil, they perish.
