I've watched a lot of videos of people dumping the package into the hive and then placing it in front of the entrance so the remaining stragglers can find their way in. Yours is only the second one I've seen where the package is placed inside the hive, then the hive closed up. What are the advantages/disadvantages of doing it the way you did it? Is it better to let the bees just come out of the package on their own?

    NICE job David !!!

Beestricken, the package was actualy disigned to fit inside a deep box.
The advantages are there is less stress on the bees from "bumping, dumping, spraying with water etc" and there aren`t any bees flying trying to find home because when the leave they know where to return especialy if you are shaking several packages at one time.

The can already had holes in it and you put holes in the opposite side therefore no vacuum to keep it from running out!!

That makes sense, I just see most people do it the other way. Are there disadvantages to doing it the way Steven did it? It sure seems much easier his way.
