Default from the ahpa about how to join the lawsuit against goebs

    Fellow Beekeepers,

This is to inform all U.S. beekeepers who have had commercial operations with 300 or more hives that produced and sold honey in the U.S. since 2001 of actions taken on your behalf regarding a class action lawsuit. This lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for Northern District of Illinois in Chicago by domestic honey producers Adee Honey Farm, Bill Rhodes Honey Co., and Hackenberg Apiaries on behalf of the U.S. beekeepers seeking compensation for all domestic honey producers injured as a result of Groeb’s and Honey Solution’s conduct and actions.

The U.S. government brought criminal charges against Groeb Farms, Inc. and Honey Holding for illegal honey smuggling of Chinese honey, etc. for which they agreed to federal fines totaling $3 million. In doing so they have admitted guilt and opened the way for U.S. Beekeepers to recover monetary losses caused to U.S. Beekeepers by Groeb’s and Honey Holding’s actions.

The class action lawsuit filed on your behalf cites those companies’ violations of the Lanham Act, involving false advertising and unfair competition, as well as violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, (RICO Act) arising from those companies’ involvement in an international scheme to purchase illegally imported and fraudulently labeled honey from China to avoid paying U.S. antidumping duties – all to the detriment of U.S. Beekeepers like yourself.

This illegal behavior has suppressed domestic prices of honey, caused plaintiffs and the other class members to lose significant amounts of sales and otherwise caused economic loss and financial harm to plaintiffs and the other class members.

An article from "Catch the Buzz" titled "Lawsuit Filed Against Groeb Farms and Honey Solutions

Spells Out Blatant Fraud Involved In Honey Case" may be read here: http://home.ezezine.com/1636/1636-20...0.archive.html

U.S. beekeepers have been injured financially by those companies’ actions, which depressed the U. S honey market for many years, even if they had no business dealings with Groeb or Honey Solutions.

Here is the link to the actual lawsuit. Its a pdf file. It spells out what we have known all along about the massive fraud on American honey producers by the Chinese, with a little help from their friends!

I think this lawsuit says something about the present corporate business world, you can cheat or do things illegally and make huge profits until you are caught, these profits can be hid, moved off shore or into tax havens, trust funds etc....if this suit is successful somebody going to pay a huge junk of cash to a lot of beekeepers, where do I sign up

I doubt it, they will just file for bankruptcy, as you said they already hid the money. that's why jail time for them would be better.

Yes. there is a huge pile of cash to be made from this lawsuit, unfortunately it will be taken away in briefcases, not beekeeper's wallets.

    Beating a dead horse?

OK, so who's (which importer/packers) supplying all the imported honey now,to Groeb's clients? This has not reduced the amount of imported honey from overseas from India, China, "Vietnam", which keeps the price of honey down in the USA. Has anything really changed?

From the ABJ Extra, Ron Phipps International Honey Report:
" We may note that points of transshipment may shift from Asia to the Middle East and Europe. There are also very credible reports that Chinese nationals have entered ownership agreements with companies in South America which are now involved in very elaborate new schemes."

It never ends .These guys are always a step ahead of Customs.
