    Default Nuc Crazy Cumb

I picked up two nucs last week and put them in 8 frame deeps. I have frames with plastic foundation. They are building quite a bit of crazy comb. Side ways. or Drawing out a little bit of the wax then creating a second section before the plastic. My other hives never have this kind of problem, but both of nucs keep doing this. I do have some wax foundation cut in starter stripes. Should I use this in stead? What are some solutions and any particular reason why these two nucs would do this?

Some bees do not like to draw out plastic foundation. Your bees may be making crazy comb as an alternative to using the plastic. You can try adding more wax (melt some beeswax, then brush or roll that onto the foundation) to see if this will get them to use the plastic.

Are your hive leaning? This sometimes gets them doing the "wonkeeee" shuffle
Save the comb for swarm traps

I know the bad rap that plastic foundation gets. They were actually previously used plastic foundation with comb left over from a crush and strain that I scraped off. I really don't want to have to go in every few days to fix their "wonkeeee"ness. Think I'll try the starter strip.

Are they tightly together in the center of the hive?
