Golden Rod/Aster Honey

To my utter shock (and delight) my bees seem to have made it through the winter not only alive, but with a full box of honey and few extra frames. However, the little bit of honey I did collect last fall was all golden rod and aster and it all crystallized very fast. It looks like the aster honey in the hive is crystallized (but the goldenrod looks the same). Can the bees use this? I've read that they can't, but this doesn't make any sense to me. Or does it just look crystallized?
