Default Ridgid shop vac on sale at Home Depot

    http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-4-...0#.UVcvIJNOPdc

This vac is 49.88 on the website. A good deal since it is the twin of this vac at $79.97 but without all the accessories: http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-4-...1#.UVcwhZNOPdc

I found the first vac at a local store in AL earlier this week. The big sign said it was listed at $49.88 (same as online) but was on sale for $39.88. The price tag on the shelves said $29 and some change. I had an employee scan the barcode and it came up at the $29 price, so I got it.

I figure that considering the 5hp motor and the small size, it should make a great team-mate for my Robo bee vac setup.

It has some really good reviews on the HD website but was wondering if anyone here has used one and would like to chime in with their opinion of this unit.

    > I figure that considering the 5hp motor

I'm sure it is a nice vac, and you certainly got a good deal, but the concept that a device that plugs into a standard 110 volt wall socket has 5 hp motor is pure marketing hype.

Motors are rated in horsepower (HP) or fractions of horsepower (1/4, 1/3, 1/2, etc.) Mechanically, one horsepower (1HP) is equal to 33,000 pounds being moved 1 foot in 1 minute (or 33,000ft-lb/min). One horsepower (1HP) is also equal to 746 watts of electrical power.

Since a standard outlet delivers approximately 1600 watts, that is really no more than about a 2 hp motor.

Is that measured at the crank or the rear wheels.

The Ridgid blower vacs work on the Bushkill bee vac and also make a good bee blower.
