    Default Nucs with QC

Set them up last week, and they are due to start mating tomorrow through Thursday. And we have bad weather with T-storms coming for the entire week it looks like. Can only wonder what this is going to do to mating attempts.

One of these tries all will go right.

Thanks sakhoney - guess those gals will try to mate next week end.

Just seems like when I do splits, there is always bad weather around the time when the queens are supposed to be mating.

Well let me know it they mate or not - if now we can get ya some queens fairly quickly as I made up a few extra before I came to work - and they won't be 25$. Maybe a day in the bee yard together - depends on how many ya need. Just a couple - OK - a 100 yard bee yard - well that's a horse of another color. How many did ya make up anyway?

If the weather is bad for just a few days, the queens should be ok. If it were bad for two-three weeks, might be another story. Good luck.

Gary - Thanks I hope so.

LOL Having lots of bad luck (really poor planning is to blame) so far this spring. Started way late trying to jump starting build up, lost quite a bit of comb to wax moths, lost quite a bit of honey to robbing weak hives (weak due to mites).

Made several splits with a frame of brood, frame of capped brood, and frame of stores. Added a QC to each and then lots of nurse bees. Darn if I have not had the biggest drift back to the main hives I have ever had.

Several of these now have less than a cup of bees. They are cleaning out brood now, don't think they have enough bees to keep everything at optium temperature. Grrrrr. Should have tried them in mini mating nucs, would have lost less resources.
