    Default Beek Toolbox

I just finished this up, and had to share. Scrap oak lumber leftovers from my two top bar hives, stain/poly, and a piece of copper grounding wire we dug out of my sister's yard. Total cost- $0.

The inside dimension is just over 19", so I could make a hanger under the handle to store spare top bars if needed.

    Thanks for looking,
    John

Hopefully that copper wire was not part of the power pole or house electrical earth grounding system!

Nice "old school" toolbox. I built one almost exactly like it for my dad. I've got all my stuff in a 7 gallon bucket with lid, it keeps all your stuff together, you can catch swarms in it, and you've got a comfortable seat when you get where you're going.

Great idea , my hives might be a little further away than I'd like and I don't want to get up there only to realize I forgot my smoker hive tool etc. How about a tool list for us newbs , the essentials to always have with you for general hive work and for when you get that call for a swarm .

Like! Lake trout I'm a noob too, but here's what I keep in mine. Hive tools, gloves, corks for smoker, matches for smoker, small spray bottle with sugar water, entrance reducers, bee brush, duct tape!

Rubber bands ? saw a video of a well known beekeeper using rubber bands to hold the queen cage with candy end up to a frame , not sure if the bee s like this method or not and also most info says to put candy end down . His thinking was if any of the other bees in the cage with her were to die they could block her exit , sorry for the off topic.

Very nice toolbox. I like one that can double as a stool... but then I'm lazy...

A million people need a carpenter and you are wasting your time building tool boxes! If I had your talent I would be getting rich. Nice toolbox!
