    Default Sugar Syrup

What is the "shelf life" for sugar syrup? I would like to make it ahead of time. Any ideas? Thank-you

I doubt anyone can tell you with any authority what the shelf life of any particular batch of syrup will be. But here are some different ways that may extend the time until the syrup gets moldy:

In the spring, it's not long when the weather warms up. I find that the bees take it down pretty quick so it's the backup stock that gets sour. I keep extra syrup in the barn where this time of year, it's always colder than outside. Seems to help a bit. I try not to make up too much in advance. This time of year I'm mixing 1:1 so I don't even bother heating up water. Hot tap water and sugar do just fine with some swishing and shaking of a 3 gallon container.

I never make it ahead of time. Keeping is always an issue.
