Default Mountain Camp Feeding - An even easier method

Had a 4lb package of sugar get wet and subsequently hard as a rock. I thought why not just set it on the top bars and fold back some of the packaging to feed the bees. Works like a gem! Now all I do is heavily wet a 4-5 lb bag of sugar (not so much that the packaging is falling apart) then let it dry to harden like a rock. Place it on the top bars, fold back the packaging & place a super over it all put the top cover back on it & walk away.........

So easy even a cave man could do it........and it works!

Around here, I don't even have to moisten sugar to get it to solidify. Just store it indoors in a non-air conditioned shop building, and presto-chango!

Depended on the hive & how much honey they had for stores. Some used it in a month, some hardly at all........but at least it was there if they needed it..........

2in deep feeder tray with 2in hole replaces inner cover. Fill with granulated for winter feeding. Sugar absorbs heat from hive, no moisture problem, and moisture solidifies sugar.

I intentionally prepared 10# bags of sugar and placed some over some inner covers as insurance...
