Arrow Reversing deeps in San Diego, CA

    Hi...

The lowest temps we will be having from now on are in the 60's. Today, I swapped the deeps of one of my hives and added a drone frame and then a queen excluder below the honey super. Is reversing the deeps even necessary in San Diego?

I had treated with MAQS's in late Fall of last year, and the hives today are booming with tons of worker bees and HUGE drones (first time I have ever seen such big suckers - quite amazing)! When I swapped the deeps, both deeps were pretty strong with bees. Did I even need to swap here is San Diego, or is this something that is a must every year?

Thanks for any input you can give!

It is not a must anywhere. I rarely swap boxes, the queen will work her way down soon enough, can help with swarming though.

If they had brood in both boxes, no reason to swap them really. Typically people swap in spring as the bees have an empty box below them.
