I found a swarm cells today so I took them and put them in my queen castle with 2 frames of brood/pollen and a frame of honey. Its going to be cold the next 2 to 3 days then we should be past the weather that is problematic.....so I took the split, closed up the entrance with screen and put it in my garage. Can I leave it sealed up in the garage where its warm for a few days or should I take them out and open and close them?

If it's warm I would let them fly and bring them in at night.

What stage is the queen cell capped? Larva?

Your original hive might just make another swarm cell. I might get a few shakes of bees and a few more frames of brood, replace with empty draw comb.

I am going to try cut down splits this year, I will take 2-3 frames of brood, two shakes of bees and the queen and move them to a nuk. Make sure there are eggs left behind. This will prevent swarming and give the hive a break in brood so it can make more honey and comb. Also a break in varroa breeding cycle.

I understand I am still figuring this aspect all out; I'll go through the hives in another two weeks and make observations, and decisions. My main objective is swarm control, and then probably another go round two weeks later and then no disturbances.
